Founded in 2001 by Lindsay and Joe, Flying Hire began with just one van and a modest selection of power tools. With determination and resilience, both founders worked multiple jobs while raising a family, laying the foundations for what would become a thriving business.
Family has always been at the heart of Flying Hire. From an early age, the next generation became involved, developing hands-on skills across mechanical and electrical disciplines that would later support the company’s continued growth.
Over the past 25 years, Flying Hire has evolved significantly. After initially specialising in tool and plant hire, the business strategically transitioned into temporary power solutions, a move that has defined its modern success. Despite this evolution, the company’s core ethos has remained unchanged: a commitment to delivering the highest-quality equipment and service to its customers.
To mark this milestone anniversary, Flying Hire is pleased to announce several exciting developments that reflect its continued investment in the future.
Paul Knight has joined the business as Business Development Manager, bringing with him decades of industry expertise in temporary power. His appointment strengthens Flying Hire’s capability to support customers with innovative and reliable solutions; this wealth of knowledge also opens doors for new opportunities and products.
Part of this growth and forward investment within the company’s operational capacity will be introduction of its first batch of 500kVA generators coupled to this significant investment will be the introduction of 1MVA load banks, further enhancing its already extensive fleet of generators and tower lights.
Flying Hire is also delighted to announce the promotion of William Nearn to Company Director. William has dedicated 12 years to the business, gaining experience across all areas, from on-site operations and HGV driving to workshop management. His appointment reflects both his commitment and the company’s ongoing investment in its people.
As Flying Hire looks ahead, the business remains focused on sustainable growth, innovation, and maintaining the family values that have underpinned its success for a quarter of a century.
